This one is a little tougher to digest than Vol 1 or 2. That's likely due to the unusual lineup: piano, pecussion, three (!) trombones and of course Ducret. The four tracks are given drastic rearrangements, which is part of the appeal, giving a different view of the songs. Essential, but get Vol 1 and 2 first. binomess

This is one awesome band and it doesn't convene that often (more's the pity)...originally an LP only release,I seem to remember,it's great to have this released by Catalytic Sound. It is a wonderful album...driving,gutsy,raw energy;it's unclassifiable (manna from heaven for me!) and it's live!! In my estimation there are five contemporary jazz composers/players who are the 21st Century vanguard and Ken Vandermark is one of them...(the other four? John Zorn,Dave Douglas,Tim Berne and Bill Frisell...there's a book to be written there!).

This swinging Welsh jazz combo packs each song with blissfully darting horn lines and simmering rhythms on their latest LP. Bandcamp New & Notable Jul 23, 2022

A brilliant free-jazz workout from (what appears to be) a one-off from veterans Haker-Flaten and Ra and relative newcome Mazzarella. Mazzarella is given center stage for much of this release's hour and he shines brightly - stretching out and showing his improvistaional chops off. Haker-Flaten's bass playing, as always, is a joy to listen to. binomess
