That's an easy one! We're all BEING human, and we're all BECOMING dead!
'Til then, Parmenides and Heraclitus aside, I'll add Evans to my collection of favourite trumpeter albums.
I love the easy-breezy charm of Chet Baker, blowing soft clouds; and Miles Davis' Bitches Brew is obviously it.
This is suiting my taste in the abstract right now.Put a trumpet player through a mincer with a squeaky toy he might sound like this.Which is not a criticism, truly.A link of Peter Evans? Breakfast sorted! nicholas hamnett
Released on Dave Douglas' influential Greenleaf Music...DD has exemplary antenna! Ascendent ensemble playing. This is a great listen...intrinsically linked to Mingus' 'The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady', listen separately or in conjunction but embrace both. Think of them as call and response, perhaps. Hard to improve on the old Hat Art double CD but this does. Boisterous tribute to Parker's music piling on all the additions Parker started and others advanced. These interpretations go every which way and while tunes are repeated each performance is it's own thing. Can't recommend this highly enough. This is living, breathing, kicking music.
